The Convent of Santo Domingo

The Convent of Santo Domingo
Built in 1678, was one of the first to be founded in the new city. It was ravaged by two fires in the seventeenth century, the tower collapsed and interiors. However they managed to keep up the walls and arches, especially built to withstand the wooden choir of the church flat arch. Some Activities are: walking, exhibition of ruins and among other.

This monument retakes relevance in the twentieth century, to the time of the construction of the canal, as its flat arch served as an example of the seismic stability of which enjoyed the isthmus. Currently the ruins of the facades and internal arches and a fully restored chapel that serves as a religious museum are observed.
